Monday 


Budget Hearing: The Springs School Board of Education will hold a hearing on the proposed 2013-14 budget at 6:30 p.m., followed by its regular meeting. 

Meet the Candidates:
 The candidates for East Hampton School Board of Education have been invited to a "Meet the Candidates" night at 7:30 p.m. at the John M. Marshall Elementary School building. The event is sponsored by the JMMES PTA.

'Girl Rising' Screening: "Girl Rising spotlights" the stories of nine unforgettable girls born into unforgiving circumstances, capturing their dreams, their voices and their remarkable lives. Directed by Academy Award-nominee Richard E. Robbins and narrated by Cate Blanchett, Priyanka Chopra, Selena Gomez, Anne Hathaway, Salma Hayek, Alicia Keys, Chloë Moretz, Liam Neeson, Freida Pinto, Meryl Streep, and Kerry Washington, the movie is at the center of 10x10 – a global campaign to educate and empower girls. It will be shown at the East Hampton Movie Theater at 7:30 p.m. Tickets must be purchased in advance online

Tuesday

Town Board: The East Hampton Town Board will hold its monthly work session in Montauk at the firehouse at 10 a.m.

Budget Hearing: The Amagansett School Board will present its proposed 2013-14 budget in the school library at 6:30 p.m.

Cocktail Party To Benefit The Retreat
: Race Lane will host a cocktail party benefit for The Retreat from 7 to 9 p.m. Tickets are $45 prepaid, $50 at the door. Tickets include beer, wine and hors d'oeuvres. There will also be live entertainment. To purchase tickets cilck here.

New Works Showcase: Guild Hall and The Naked Stage present the new works "At The Bar," by Hortense Carpentier, "WHOA!," by Lisa Bonner and an excerpt of "From Ship to Shape," by Walker Vreeland. Josh Gladstone performs as the lead actor. Admission is free. The show starts at 7:30 p.m.

Meet the Candidates: The candidates for Springs School Board have been invited to speak at a forum, hosted by the Springs School PTA, at 7:30 p.m. The meeting will be conducted by the Group for Good Government at the school.

Wednesday

Amagansett School Voter Registration Drive: Voter registration for all interested Amagansett residents will be held at the Amagansett School between the hours of 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Bring photo ID and two proofs of residency that state your Amagansett physical address on same.

Shavuot Services: The Jewish Center of the Hamptons will host Shavuot festival morning service at 10:00am. Torah Reading, The Ten Commandments and the re-affirmation of our personal commitment to Torah and Yizkor memorial prayers are all apart of the service.

Tween and Teen Game Night: The Montauk Library will play games and make Lego creations. Kids in third to sixth grade are welcome between 6 and 6:45 p.m., and those in grades six and above are asked to come between 6:45 and 7:30 p.m. 

EAST END CHEFS AT OLD WHALERS: Livia Hegner, owner of Pepalajefa gourmet shop in Sag Harbor, along with manager Marianne Farrell, will prepare croque monsieur on homemade bread, Swiss meatloaf with tiny potatoes and a special dessert as part of an ongoing series at Old Whalers Church. The price of the class is $20; wine and water will be available for cash purchase. Space is limited. Reserve in advance by calling Lillian, 631-553-6515; pay at the door (cash or check). Proceeds benefit the Community House Fund at Old Whalers, established to improve and maintain spaces used by many community groups each week.

SUP Race for the Peconic Baykeeper: Main Beach Surf & Sport hosts the first standup paddle race of the season. The annual Paddle for the Bays to raise money for The Peconic Baykeeper includes a 3-mile recreational course and a 6-mile elite race course. The race starts and finishes at Havens Beach in Sag Harbor. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. The races start at 9 a.m.

Meet the Winners of the Guild Hall Artist Members Exhibition: Michelle Klein, Assistant Curator and Registrar at Guild Hall, interviews the winners of the 75th Annual Guild Hall Artist Members Exhibition. The Awards Judge was Elisabeth Sussman, Curator and Sondra Gilman Curator of Photography at the Whitney Museum of American Art. The interviews start at noon.

ART SHOW: A group art show will be held at Ashawagh Hall this weekend, with a reception from 5 to 8 p.m. The exhibition includes paintings by Dennis Lawrence and sculptures by Paul Pavia and Michael Cain. 

Swim A Thon: A Swim-a-thon at the YMCA RECenter in East Hampton is looking for participants of all ages to help raise money for The American Cancer Society by collecting pledges and swimming laps. Swimmer packets can be picked up at Hampton Jitney's Front desk located at The Omni 395 County Road 39A Southampton. It begins at 3 p.m.

Georgica Restaurant & Lounge Season 5 Launch: East Hampton Patch and Southampton Patch invite you to join us in Wainscott for the Georgica Restaurant & Lounge Season 5 Launch on May 18 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. There will be complimentary passed hors d'oeuvres and a choice of a complimentary glass of champage, wine or MDW cocktail. Estee Maria Band performs between 6:30 and 11 p.m. and DJ Cred spins from 11 p.m. until close. A $30 three-course prix fixe dinner is available from 6:30 p.m. till midnight. 

Best Seat in the House with Corky Laing: Corky Laing, drummer for the rock group Mountain and known for the writing and recording the rock classic Mississippi Queen, puts on a show at Bay Street Theatre in Sag Harbor at 8 p.m. Tickets are $15 in advance, $25 day of event.

Sunday

Fifth Annual Mitzvah Day: The Jewish Center of the Hamptons will hold its fifth annual Mitzvah Day from 9 a.m. to noon. All are welcome.

Meet & Greet with Fred OvertonGet to know Fred Overton, the current East Hampton Town Clerk, who is running for town board in the November election, at a fundraiser in his honor at Harbor Bistro in Springs at 3 p.m. Tickets are on sale for $50 per person in advance, and admission at the door will be $75 per person.

Expressionism Panel: The Pollock-Krasner House in Springs has gathered a panel to address the relevance of expressionism, both figurative and abstract, in contemporary art. Speakers include artists Sally  Egbert, Connie Fox, Colin Goldberg, Carol Hunt, Ruby Jackson, and Haim Mizrahi. Linda Hatofsky, widow of West Coast expressionist painter Julius Hatofsky, will discuss her late husband's work, and contributions from the audience are welcome.
