Historic Renovation Nears Completion

Baker-Lamb house will be used for office space.

Works on the historic Baker-Lamb House is almost finished, with the final touches being completed.

Larry Cantwell, the village administrator, said village officials expect finishing touches to be completed in the coming month. "On the interior, there's some painting and trim work still left to be done," he said on Wednesday.

The late 18th century house is located on the corner of Newtown and Osborne. The village purchased the old Isaac Osborne farmstead for $1.4 million in July 2007 in order to preserve it. Officials were concerned that the property, zoned commercial, would be developed.

A Greek revival cottage, work was done to lower the roofline and restore it to its original appearance. The first floor was structurally upgraded and reinforced and bathrooms were added.

The plan is to use the cottage for office space.

Cantwell expects the work to be completed sometime in June.
