'White Knights' Rescue Man at Construction Site

A man fell into a basement in East Hampton Village on Tuesday, the fire department says.

Rescue workers helped pull a man who had fallen into a basement at a construction site in East Hampton on Tuesday evening.

The East Hampton Fire Department's Heavy Rescue Squad, also known as the "White Knights," were called to assist at 4:58 p.m.

The East Hampton Village Volunteer Ambulance were treating the man at 32 Stratton Square after he fell from the first floor into the basement.

Rescuers used a Stokes basket, along with a combination of ropes and ladders, to safely remove the victim from the basement to a waiting ambulance for transport to the hospital, according to a statement from the fire department.

The man's condition was not released.
