Detectives asking for the public's help in identifying this man.

The East Hampton Town police department are seeking the public's help in identifying the man they said robbed Springs Wines & Liquors on Saturday

In the hopes someone would recognize the robber, detectives released still images and a video, which show a man with the hooded part of his sweatshirt tied up around his face entering the Springs Fireplace Road store.

As previously reported, the robber has been described as a white man, approximately in his late 20s or early 30s, about 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet tall with a medium build. He was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt with a dark colored vest and tan pants.

The man reportedly threatened to use a gun, but never displayed one after confronted the store clerk at about 4:50 p.m. "The suspect never displayed a weapon, but kept his hand in his vest's pocket indicating he had one," Detective Sgt. Robert Gurney said in a statement on Saturday. The robber got an undisclosed amount of cash out of the register and fled on foot on Fort Pond Boulevard, toward Three Mile Harbor Road.

The clerk was not injured in the robbery, which was reported at 4:53 p.m., according to police.

Police have asked anyone with information that may assist in the investigation to call the Town Police at 631-537-7575. All calls will be kept confidential.

Editor's Note: We weren't able to upload the video clip, but detectives said it shows the man entering the store, as depicted in the still images. We will update the story if we are able to get the video to work.
