Police Investigating Trespass Claim in East Hampton Village

A man and a woman didn't have permission to be in a house, police say.

East Hampton Village police are investigating a trespass report a house on Talmage Lane just before the New Year.

In a report released on Wednesday morning, police said they were called to the house, just around the corner from village police headquarters at the Emergency Services Building on Cedar Street, after guests of the homeowner arrived to find two alleged trespassers there on Dec. 30 at about 11 a.m.

A 31-year-old man and a woman, whose age was not disclosed, did not have the homeowner's permission to be there, according to police. Their names were not released.

The couple, whom police spoke to inside the house, were not arrested, though the homeowner does wish to pursue charges, police said.

The matter was turned over to the detective division.

Chief Jerry Larsen said on Wednesday that the investigation was ongoing and he was not able to release any further details at this time. The report released Wednesday was not a final report.
