Steve Haweeli, Neighbor

Steve Haweeli, founder and president of WordHampton Public Relations, is one of the region's most successful and recognizable agency principals. Founded in 1992, WHPR has won several awards for outstanding publicity campaigns and achievement in branding and reputation. His team recently won two Folio Awards from the Fair Media Council for outstanding social media campaigns in 2010. In 2009, O’Dwyer’s named WordHampton one of the Top Independent PR firms. In 2008, his team captured the prestigious Big Apple Award in the Marketing Consumer Services, Travel and Tourism/Hospitality sector for Long Island Restaurant Week by the New York Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA). Past distinctions include a PRSA Bronze Anvil Award ("Goodbye Greenspan"), a Gold MarCom Award for Napco Security Systems, and a SABRE Award for Long Island Restaurant Week.

He is a member of PRSA's Counselors Academy, serves on the board of directors of the East Hampton Chamber of Commerce, as well as on the board of Suffolk County College's Culinary Arts program, where he is a guest lecturer each semester. He is a member of Long Island Business News’ Fifty or so Around 50 Class of 2010, the Long Island Association and the Public Relations Professionals of Long Island. He is a graduate of Hamilton College and resides in East Hampton with his son.
