Sima Freierman, Neighbor
- East Hampton, NY
I have an MBA from the University of Florida and I run my own business as a consultant helping small to medium businesses develop efficient operating and financial systems. I am also a part-time teacher and storyteller and I represent the country’s largest international au pair service, bringing families a truly flexible and affordable childcare option. I am active in the Jewish Center of the Hamptons and I volunteer for local organizations that promote literacy and help feed and house the less fortunate in the Hamptons.
Formerly, as the General Manager of the State’s largest commercial dock, I became involved in coastal issues ranging from road runoff to sustainability. I served as an industry advisor to New York State Sea Grant; the Marine Resource Advisory Council; the Mid-Atlantic Fisheries Management Council; and the New England Fisheries Management Council. I was the founding secretary of the Long Island Commercial Fishing Association and chaired the Industry Advisory Board for the Atlantic Coastal Cooperative Statistics Program. I sat on the Board of the National Fisheries Institute Scientific Monitoring Committee and was a member of fisheries committees for both Suffolk County and the Town of East Hampton.
I have lived in Montauk for almost 20 years, where I raised two daughters alone after my husband passed at a young age. I am known for high energy and involvement with coastal resources both personally and professionally. I enjoy performing and have appeared on several television shows and as a volunteer at major local fundraising events.
