Charles Parsons built this blacksmith shop in 1886 on nearby Fireplace Road in the Springs section of East Hampton.…More Parsons was known as the "Edison of Springs," improvising with what he had, making wagons and tools for farming and fishing, and shoeing horses until 1926.</p> <p>The last standing "smithy," this building was purchased by the town in the 1980s and moved to its current location. The town hosts blacksmith demonstrations in the building from time to time, and the Springs Historical Society has some artifacts there on display, but it is not open regularly. The Springs-Amagansett trail starts at the shop and will take you to near the Amagansett Library.</p>
