Founded in 1959, the Jewish Center of the Hamptons started out with only a handful of families. The congregation and…More a religious school grew, and it now serves hundreds of families on the East End. In the early 1980s, the well-known architect Norman Jaffe designed a new building for the center, complete with a light-filled, airy sanctuary that was completed in 1989. It is considered an architectural landmark of Jaffe's.
Cantor Debra Stein, who has been there for more than 25 years, along with the education and program director, give Hebrew lessons; a religious school meets on Sundays. There are middle and high school student youth groups, and adult study groups. Children also have access to Birthright Israel.
