Camp Hero State Park

A former military base, Camp Hero is located along the beachfront and is a prime location for fishing, but the majorityMore of it is actually woods surrounding a historic military installation. The east entrance is located just before the Montauk Point Lighthouse off of Montauk Point State Parkway. Aside from breathtaking ocean views and bluffs with a sharp drop-off, there is a trail system for horseback riding, hiking or bicycling. Fishermen with permits can surf cast at the park 24 hours a day. Dogs are allowed in the park as long as they are on a leash no more than six feet long.
