It is an all-regents high school and it requires students to complete a community service program and the school-to-work program before graduation.

The Springs Public School on School Street houses kindergarten through eighth grade students from the SpringsMore neighborhood of East Hampton. The school district sends its high school students to East Hampton High School. Founded in the 1930s, several generations of families have attended the school, which has been added onto several times. The school district also started recently offering pre-kindergarten in a rented space at Most Holy Trinity Church in East Hampton Village.

Friends of Jimmy Ernst, a renowned abstract painter, formed the Jimmy Ernst Artists Alliance in his memory in 1984. AMore not-for-profit corporation with a membership of professional artists, it is now known as the Artists Alliance of East Hampton. The group hosts studio tours for the public, lectures and presentations, as well as community outreach programs such as workshops for high school students.
