The Montauk County Park offers outerbeach camping, trails and the historic Third House Museum. With entrances on East Lake Drive, a slew of people use the park for fishing and camping using self-contained campers. The Third House Museum was originally a home for early colonial cattle keeper. During the Spanish-American War, it was the headquarters for Camp Wikoff, Theodore Roosevelt and the Rough Riders, as the thousands of soldiers being quarantined for diseases there were known. A Spanish-American War exhibition displays photographs and memorabilia from the war. The park was formerly named the Theodore Roosevelt County Park, but the Suffolk County Legislature unanimously voted to revert the park to its original name in June 2012.
