As the longest-running newspaper in East Hampton, <em>The </em><i>East Hampton Star</i> has been the paper of record since 1885. Privately owned, it has been run by the Rattray family since 1935, when Jeannette and Arnold Rattray bought it, and has been published from the same building on Main Strett, next to the East Hampton Library, since 1940. The <i>Star,</i> a weekly boardsheet, and has four sections: news, business, arts and sports. It covers Montauk to Water Mill, including East Hampton, Sag Harbor and North Haven Villages. The <i>Star</i> is sold for $1 at groceries and delis throughout the South Fork, on Shelter Island and in a few locations in Manhattan.
