Second House Museum is a historic building in that is is the oldest buidling still standing in Montauk. It was built in 1797, when Montauk was in essense a giant cattlerange. While renovations and additions were made over time, the basic 18th century elements remain. East Hampton Town and the New York State Historical Trust bought the house in 1968, and Montauk Historical Society runs it, opening it as a museum a year later.
