Patti Smith Takes the Stage at Guild Hall; Hampton Classic Nearby

MONDAY

— Hampton Classic: The Long Island Horse Show Series for Riders with Disabilities Championships, takes place on Monday with three divisions — one for riders requiring the assistance of a leader, one for riders requiring a spotter at the beginner independent level, and one for more advanced independent riders.

— Book Signing: Join Barbara Jude Frerichs in supporting ASPCA Adoption Day at The Hampton Classic Horse Show. She will sign her latest book, "What My Dog Has Taught Me About Men," with the proceeds going to the ASPCA, at 10 a.m.

— Sidewalk Chalk Art and Snow Cone Ices: Cool off at the Montauk Library. Grab some Italian ice, then create chalk art, all starting at 4 p.m.

— Monday Night Dance Class: A light-hearted, full-bodied dance class offered on a donation basis by Jamie Lerner at 5:45 p.m. 


TUESDAY

— Hampton Classic: Bring three or more items to donate to the Sag Harbor Food Pantry and get into the show for free. Tuesday's special activities include a reading with author John Caine at noon, and a visit with the Wolf Conservation Center's Atka the wolf at 11 a.m.

— ‘What is a Heart' Film: Christopher Janney's “What Is A Heart,” a film of his signature performance piece “HeartBeat” will be shown at Guild Hall in East Hampton at 8 p.m. It opens with a live set by The Persuasions.

WEDNESDAY

— Hampton Classic: Bring three or more items to donate to the Sag Harbor Food Pantry and get into the show for free. The Bridgehampton Child Care & Recreational Center with read stories focused on people from around the world throughout the day in the Kids Area.

— Cookie Design with Citarella: Students will decorate pre-made sugar cookies at Guild Hall in East Hampton at 2 p.m. All decorations, materials and cookies will be provided by Citarella. For ages 5 and up. Price: $10/$8 members per workshop.

— KidFEST Hands-On Arts & Crafts Workshop: Students will create their own dream animal using markers, crayons, paint and mixed media at Guild Hall in East Hampton at 4 p.m. For ages 5 and up. Price: $10/$8 members per workshop.

— KidFEST Wild World of Animals: At Guild Hall in East Hampton, this stage show is a fast-paced, entertaining and educational program performed on acolorfully painted stage. The show features a variety of animals — reptiles, birds and mammals — including potentially and American alligator, alligator snapping turtle, albino monocle cobra, reticulated python, European eagle owl, blue and gold macaw, opossum, binturong, spot-nose guenon (monkey) and an African spotted leopard or hyena.  Wild World of Animals was voted one of the top five edu-tainment shows in the world by the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions! Recommended for ages 4 and up. It begins at 5 p.m. Price: Adults $16/$14 members; Kids $13/$11 members.

THURSDAY

— Hampton Classic: Top notch equestrian competition continues at the Hampton Classic in Bridgehampton. 

— Equestrian Aid Foundation Hamptons Clambake: Join the Equestrian Aid Foundation for a clambake at Scott Cameron Beach in Bridgehampton at 6:30 p.m. Traditional clambake food will be served along with beer, wine, soda and cocktails. Dresscode is casual. 

— Custom Cool Barefoot Benefit: Custom Cool Rugs will be hosting its third annual ‘Barefoot Benefit’ in support of GoodWeave at the Hayground School from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Enjoy local delicacies created by the local chef Estelle Arlaud, cocktails and live musical entertainment by the famous Escola De Samba.

FRIDAY

— Hampton Classic: Top notch equestrian competition continues at the Hampton Classic in Bridgehampton. 

— Janet Russell Spiritual Medium: Join Janet Russell Spiritual Medium for an evening of spirit communication at the Cross Eyed Clam in Montauk at 6 p.m. Price: $55.

— SummerDocs: THE SHORT GAME: Presented by Hamptons International Film Festival, Alec Baldwin will host a screening of "The Short Game," a film about the little guys: eight talented boys and girls, ages seven and eight, who descend on one of golf’s meccas, Pinehurst, N.C., to compete in the World Championship of Junior Golf. It begins at 8 p.m. Price: $22 Reserved Seating / $20 Members

SATURDAY

— Hampton Classic: Saturday is Optimum Kids Day — so there's a whole host of activities focused on the young at heart. Plus, kids get in free on Saturday. Performances by the Grammy-nominated Children's band the Pop-Ups and Bellini Family Circus are scheduled. There will also be face painting and airbrush tattoos, crafts with the Children's Museum of the East End, the Amazing Zola, and a presentation from the Wildlife Rescue Center of the Hamptons. Free pony rides are available for children under 12.

— Rummage Sale: Last sale day of the summer 2013 season at the Montauk Community Church, starting at 9 a.m. Half-price on all clothing for the whole family, linens, towels and more.

— Film Screening: The East Hampton Library will show "The Great Gatsby," starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Joel Edgerton, and Tobey Maguire, at 1 p.m.

— Performance: Taj Mahal Trio with special guest Bettye LaVette at Guild Hall in East Hampton at 8 p.m. Price: Prime Orchestra $125/$120 members; Orchestra $75/$70 members; Balcony $50/$48 members 

— Bay Street Theatre Presents “Hamptons Pride Dance Parties”: Dance the night away with DJ  Karin Ward. Sponsored by Pineapple Point Guesthouse & Resort and Wire Magazine at 8 p.m. Price: $25 to $35

SUNDAY

— Hampton Classic: The $250,000 FTI Consulting Grand Prix and FEI World Cup Qualifier is, of course, the focus of Sunday, Sept. 1. It serves as a qualifying competition for the 2014 Longines FEI World Cup Final in Lyon, France next April. 

— Backyard BBQThe best Kosher BBQ in the Hamptons featuring an all you can eat buffet full of all the classic BBQ dishes at Chabad of East Hampton. Price: $30 adults/ $15 children
