Labor Day Weekend Forecast: From Sunny To Chance of Showers

Head out to the beach on Saturday before the clouds roll in this Labor Day weekend.

If you're planning a barbecue or beach day for Labor Day weekend, it's best to schedule the fun for Friday or Saturday.

That's the word from the National Weather Service office in Upton, where meteorologist Joe Pollina said the weather will go from sunny to the possibility of showers as the weekend progresses.

"Probably the best day to do anything like beaches or barbecues will be Friday, and Saturday's not too bad," Pollina said. "It's not going to be a hot, sunny beach weekend. Sunday and Monday will be mostly cloudy."

Friday's East End weather will be mostly sunny, with highs in the mid 70s, Pollina said. Friday night is expected to be partly cloudy, with lows in the mid 60s.

Saturday is slated to dawn mostly sunny, with a slight, 20 percent chance of thunderstorms. Temps are expected to hit the upper 70s and low 80s, with high humidity.

Patchy fog is likely to roll in Saturday night, which will be partly cloudy, with lows in the upper 60s.

The chance for thunderstorms starts to pick up on Sunday, with a 30 percent chance of precipitation; Sunday is expected to be mostly cloudy with highs in the upper 70s. Sunday night, clouds will continue, with a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms and lows in the upper 60s.

Labor Day holds a 40 percent chance of precipitation in the form of showers and thunderstorms, and is slated to be mostly cloudy, with highs in the middle to upper 70s.

Monday night, the chance for thunderstorms and showers will be higher, around 50 percent, with temps in the mid to upper 60s.
