Wahine Women Pull In $12,000 for The Retreat

Money still coming in after the all-female paddle in Amagansett on Sunday.

Battling rough conditions in Napeague Bay on Sunday, women took in approximately $12,000 for during a benefit paddle.

Paddlers for Humanity kicked off its summer events with off of Lazy Point in Amagansett to raise money for the domestic violence advocacy group and shelter.

Fred Doss, co-president of the group, said money was still coming in, but that every dollar raised by the stand-up paddlers and kayakers on a three-mile long course.

Each paddler had to raise or contribute $250 to take part, or if they are under the age of 18, the amount was $125.
