Volunteers Needed for Keep East Hampton Village Beautiful

Clean-Up Day set for June 1.

June 1 is Clean-Up Day in East Hampton Village.

Building on the success of the first clean-up day under the Keep East Hampton Village Beautiful campaign in November 2012, the Ladies Village Improvement Society has organized another.

Larrilee Jemiola, the vice chair of the LVIS tree committee, told the village board on Friday that volunteers can meet at Herrick Park at 9:30 a.m. The clean-up will continue until about noon, with participants working in zones.

The purpose, she said, is to raise awareness that it takes a community to keep a village looking pristine.

The village will supply trash bags and gloves.

Some middle school students and their parents will join the LVIS and village officials, she said. This town, they've also asked businesses to help keep their storefronts tidy, she said.

Last time, Mayor Paul F. Rickenbach Jr. and Trustee Rick Lawler, and their wives, helped pick up trash.

Will you lend a hand on the village's clean-up day? Tell us in the comments below.
