It seems to me brazen armed robbery along with homes being broken into are in the daily news more now than ever. Yet our police are the finest, well paid, well trained, and well equipped in the nation. So what's going on?
I hate to believe that the criminal element is beginning to feel more empowered to flash weapons and rob an aging retirement community like the Hamptons is becoming. I know political and police officials personally and know they care and are aiming more resources at the problem. Yet something is happening. There seems to be a sea shift in the scope of this crime wave.
Jewelry stores, liquor stores, banks, cash checking places and late night gas stations may become likely targets for armed grand larceny. I hope not. I am not a fan of an armed population. However on the east end I am in the minority, or so it seems.
Increased security cameras around the villages, may help catch the criminals but will it impede crime. As I age into my sixties I fear crime more than illness. What do you think? Please comment
