So hear we go, V.P. Joe Biden who summer season’s in Southampton is heading to Iowa to test Presidential 2016 waters while perhaps rival for the nomination, former First Lady, former Senator, former Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, hunkers down in East Hampton with her closest aides, including her husband the former President. I don’t ever recall seeing a photo of a Biden-Clinton at the same event on the east end. So the question is which town may end up as the next Summer White House. The checkbooks will be picking sides. Now Joe loves the personal touch going to local Democratic events and has met all the Southampton local politicians, for photo ops whereas Hillary sort of takes on the persona of a “Madonna” while secret service SUVing about. We knew for some reason she and husband Bill use to enjoy Jason Weiner’s cooking, not sure how that’s going this year. BTW years back I sang some karaoke with both Jason and his wife Almond, at Almondito, and quite frankly they are two of the nicest people so I hope they sail through many summer dinners served for years to come. But what will happen when in 2014-2015 big-time fundraisers are held in each town on the same summer nights. Where will the Bon Jovi’s, Ron Perlman’s, Steven Spielberg’s, George Soros and other active big hitter notables line up with their checkbooks? Would be an extra real kick if the Republicans could find a Montauk Guy or even better, North Fork guy to run for President Lol. No doubt all this will be great theater for our enjoyment to watch, as the elbows get sharp in search of the all important campaign money that is so needed to succeed on the national stage
