A Good Sailing Buddy is a Godsend!

Good sailing is a treat and all around the East Hampton Town Pennisula exists the best sailing. To sail safely you should rarelt sail alone, and it is best to sail with someone who knows your boat. For the last three years I have been lucky to have both in one Todd Wickersham. As in you can't make this up I was in the Springs Dog Park three years ago walking my beagle Bo, when my now wife said to me over the phone that she is never happy when i sail alone. I was assuring her I will be OK when Todd overheard me, (while he was walking his ARF dog Hank) and asked if he could come along on the sail and the rest is history. Three to four days a week we go out on a 22' Catalina (Caelan Shea) day trips from my slip in 3Mile Harbor. We usually sail the local Gardiner's Bay destinations such as, Greenport, Shelter Island, Sag Harbor, Louse Point, Gardiner's Island and the ruins of Fort Tyler and Plum Island. He's great with my Dog Bo and handling the boat. The reason I am writing this piece is that for the last 11 days he has been in Portugal and heck I missed him. He gets back tomorrow. He sent an email from Sagres, Portugal, he called it, "the end of the once known world, where many explores sailed west from!" Thank god there is a lot of sailing left this summer!
