Montauk Dream, original oil on panel, wins first place at Long Island Museum.
Brooklyn artist, Megan Karlen, takes first place at the annual Summer Show at the Long Island Museum in Stony Brook. Her painting is one of a series of Lighthouse Paintings that she is currently working on in her Red Hook Studio. Karlen spent part of her youth in Bellport and spent countless hours on the beaches of Fire Island."The ocean is where my soul lives", says Karlen. "The Lighthouse Series is an ongoing project about self-discovery and the life-saving directional focus of beams of light from both the houses and the moon."
