On The Agenda for April 16, 2013

Reminder to tune into the East Hampton Town Board's weekly work session taking place tomorrow, April 16, beginning at 10:00 (at town hall or live on LTV, channel 22).

Hello Fellow East Hampton Residents,

First, let us reflect a moment on the horror of the random acts of violence which beset our nation's 117 year running Boston Marathon.  May those remaining with us who were impacted not lose their strength and hope.

Bids:

Jeanne Carrozo will present responses to bids for the Boards’ consideration.

Pre-Existing, Non-Conforming Committee:

The Board will continue discussions of a new committee to discuss pre-existing, non-conforming businesses and structures in Town; what the zoning code allows, what it does not allow and whether the code is adequate in its current approach to these uses and structures.

Coastal Erosion Committee Recommendation Follow Up:

The Town Board heard from Montauk Constituents last week, who were concerned about the Town Board’s failure to follow through on recommendations made by the Committee especially in light of the Federal Government’s possibility of funding a much needed shoring up of downtown Montauk. Those residents asked that the Town send a message to Washington and our representatives that we will welcome any such funding and will support recommendations made by the Army Corps of Engineers made in connection with such funding. The Town Board failed to come to agreement on such a message and will try again at tomorrow’s meeting.

Viking Fleet – Gann Road

The owners of the Viking Fleet made a request to run a charter boat for fishing out of the Gann Road dock.  The Town and constituents had questions on various aspects of the request and the Town will pick up the discussion at tomorrow’s work session.

Dioguardo’s Request for a Zone Change (a/k/a Cyril’s):

The Board heard an application to change the zone for the property on the Montauk Highway along the Napeague Stretch. The property is currently zoned Residential and contains a building used for business use, which building and use pre-existed the change of the property from retail business to residential. Part of the process is for the Town to make State Environmental Quality Review Act (SEQRA) findings. In this process, the Planning Department has put together an initial determination and the Town attorney has reviewed same. Now the Town Board has to discuss and review the findings.

Recycling Cans in Montauk:

Catherine Foley and Laraine Creegan will be presenting an idea of eco-friendly recycling trash receptacles in Montauk.

Capital Budget:

The Town Board conceptually approved a capital budget for the next several years and now is looking to begin certain projects. In this regard, Len Bernard, the budget officer has come up with a schedule of projects and costs and that budget will be discussed tomorrow. Among the items contained in the budget are: police vehicles and equipment, generators, boat trailers, boats, ATVs, waste pumps for Gann Road and Star Island, pilings, playground equipment, ReCenter refurbishments, repairs to Public Works Buildings, ADA compliance, recreational equipment and vehicles,

Thank you for your commitment to our Town.

Your Representative,

Theresa K. Quigley
