Home Improvement Information Available to Suffolk Library Patrons

The Public Libraries of Suffolk County offer a new database via Live-brary.com which provides advice on home improvement, repairs and renovations in the wake of Hurricane Sandy.

Residents affected by Hurricane Sandy can now access a new database providing user-friendly, how-to information about home improvements, repairs and renovations through Live-brary.com.  “Home Improvement” contains magazine articles and reference materials, as well as nearly 100 videos and more than 35,000 images designed to help homeowners tackle home repairs safely.

Home Improvement provides the latest step-by-step information and basic tips on topics including electrical, plumbing, woodworking, outdoor projects, maintenance, remodeling and decorating.  The content is organized in a straightforward, easy-to-understand manner so that users can quickly obtain the information they need.

“For the past two years Suffolk County libraries have been a valuable and reliable community asset following natural disasters, not only as shelters and charging stations, but as sources of important information and communication,” said Suffolk Cooperative Library System Director Kevin Verbesey.  “In the wake of one of our area’s worst natural disasters, we offer this resource to assist Suffolk County residents affected by Hurricane Sandy.”

To ensure that you have the know-how to handle the tasks of rebuilding and repairing, log onto Live-brary.com or visit your local library.  Library patrons can access Home Improvement through the month of June.  All you need is a library card!
