Pierson Wins in Quadruple Overtime Shootout at State Semi-Finals

Lady Whalers will move onto the field hockey finals on Sunday.

Proving, once again, that they can perform under pressure, the Lady Whalers field hockey team pulled out a win Saturday afternoon, sending them to the state championships.

In a quadruple overtime that came down to a shootout, Pierson-Bridgehampton put Whitney Point away, 2-1, at Cicero-North Syracuse High School.

They'll move onto the state final on Sunday at 12:30 p.m. Which team they will face is still unknown — the other semi-final game was still going on at about 4:30 p.m. Saturday.

The Lady Whalers got the state quarter finals by winning the Southeast Regional Final in the second overtime, finishing 1-0 over Pawling at White Plains High School just last weekend.

The captured the Long Island Class C Championship with a 3-2 win over the Carle Place Lady Frogs.
