Artists, writers, celebrities and fans gather once again to compete in the 64th Annual Artists & Writers Softball Game. Batting practice begins at noon and the game starts at 2pm.

Stepping up to the plate this year for the Artists include: John Slattery, Mark Feuerstein, Christie Brinkley, Eric Ernst, Ed Hollander,  Anthony WEHM, Josh Charles, Walter Bernard, Gregg Bello, Ali Wentworth and Lori Singer, among many others.
On the Writers side, team members include Giada de Laurentiis, George Stephanopoulos, Ken Auletta, Mike Lupica, Lawrence O’Donnell, Mort Zuckerman, Katie Lee, Jim Leyritz, Rod Gilbert, Mark Weinstein, Mark Green and Richard Wiese, among others.
William “Spanky” Gibson from The Wounded Warrior Project will open the game as starting pitcher for the Artists. James Lipton and Juliet Papa will be game announcers. Always a competition, East Hampton’s annual Artists vs. Writers softball game (www.artistswritersgame.org) is a game where everyone wins. All proceeds from ticket sales and an annual raffle raise proceeds to benefit local charities:  East End Hospice, East Hampton Day Care Learning Center, Phoenix House of Long Island and The Retreat. There is a suggested $10 donation.

Fans and players enjoy a lunch barbecue at the game from sponsors including all-natural burgers and sausage from Suzy Sirloin, beverages from Snapple and Joe & Liza’s Ice Cream from Bay Burger.

The National Anthem will be performed by singers from dozens of Houses of Worship on the East End, and Nancy Atlas will sing for the 7th inning stretch.

*August 25th is the rain date.
