Everyone knows about the renowned Hamptons International Film Festival. It’s become a very big week in the Hamptons. But do you know about the smaller festivals around? Here are others that run around the same time:
Created and produced by HRH Princess Angelique Monet, Duchess of Aquitaine, a former Ms. Black South Carolina USA. This past autumn was the third year for HBIFF. Monet also owns Greta Jones Entertainment, which has AM Releasings (theatrical release and distribution division), and Nothing On Television TV (N.O.T TV) an On-Demand channel of Dish Network. HBIFF takes places in New York City, Sag Harbor, and Montauk; this year, the opening film was “Obama's Irish Roots” (Camelot Pictures).

The Fourth Annual East End Black Film Festival took place at the in Southampton in November and was hosted by the African American Museum of the East End. The opening film was “Beyond the Bricks.” On Friday of festival weekend, the hosted live jazz with The Spoken Word, R&B jazz band Touche, jazz violinist Krystle Ford and local poets.

Hamptons Take 2 Documentary Film Festival
This festival has run for the last four years by founder and Executive Director Jacqui Lofaro at and Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center. This year, the opening night gala was at Guild Hall and honored the late documentarian Richard Leacock.

Long Island Gay and Lesbian Film Festival
A little more UpIsland, LI Gay and Lesbian Film Festival is a non-profit organization in Huntington that brings unique cultural events every year that showcase gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender experiences in cinema. This year’s events were at the Cinema Arts Center and featured “I Am” and “Women of Film.”
