"Modern Tide" Architecture Film Shot in the Hamptons

A documentary by Jake Gorst features architecture in the Hamptons and will be on limited release soon.

A documentary about Long Island architecture will be coming to this area soon. “Modern Tide: Midcentury Architecture on Long Island” is the brainchild of director Jake Gorst. Jake is an Emmy-winning producer of films and music for public television and the global market. His company is Jonamac Productions.

The film highlights Long Island’s often under-appreciated modernist architecture treasures. Most of the examples are from the Hamptons, plus the North Forks and Fire Island, with both rare older footage and beautiful recent high-definition cinematography.

The crew filmed from August to November in 2011 at the Richard Meier-designed Saltzman house in East Hampton, the Andrew Geller-designed Frisbie beach house in Amagansett, the Geller-designed Pearlroth house in Westhampton Beach, and the Charles Gwethmey-designed Sadacca house in Northwest Harbor. They filmed landscapes from the Pine Barrens to Montauk Point.
