Astro Pizza & Felice's Ristorante Brief History

Restaurants, family, business, local

Our pizza place has family owned and operated for over 40 years with our variety of delicious pizza.

Our restaurant serves an array of Northern and Southern Italian Cuisine. With a talent for making delicious pizza, and a keen interest in outer space, Felice Lupo opened Astro Pizza in 1971. The restaurant has since moved a few doors down Main Street, but remains one of the oldest pizza places on the East End.

All pies are made on the original pizza stones and in the original ovens purchased by Felice more than 40 years ago. Still owned and operated by the Lupos, Astro is a family business in the truest sense. Now the business is run my Felice's eldest daughter, Alda Stipanov and brother Tony Lupo. Also Alda's husband, Nado has taken a big part into running Astro's and Felices. Every summer cousins (the Stipanov sons Anthony, Felice and Alex and Lupo sons, Gianfelice and Joey) join the family and make their way back to Amagansett keep the lights on until 4 a.m. every weekend from Memorial Day to Labor Day. And that's after working long lunch and/or dinner shifts.

Stop by for a late night slice and stargaze on Astro’s back patio. Next blog I will post a family tree. It can get complicated. Thanks for reading!

I love Astro's. It is an Amagansett treasure. The Lupo and Stipanov families are terrific. All so hard working and always time for a chat. Wishing all a very healthy, successful New Year!

I agree with Barbara above - it's an Amaganset treasure - Astro's is an institution in my mind - these famalies are the greatest.

Thank you both for your kind words. I'm very proud of my husband and his family and all their hard work! Keep on coming by and I'll keep on posting.

Astros was a part of my teenage years. I still remember the old location of Astros (a block West) and the astronaut and planet decorations hanging from the ceiling. We used to walk from the beach straight to "Astros" whenever school was out and it was warm. And Alda was always a really nice person to know. Glad she and Tony kept the business going.
