Student Artwork Showcased at the Polls

East Hampton High School displays students' hardwork for voters on Tuesday.

Student artwork made going to the polls more of a cheerful experience on Tuesday.

Some school districts, including East Hampton, displayed students' creativity ousted of the auditorium, where the 2013-14 budget vote and election is held.

Adam Fine, the high school principal, said school officials likes to showcase student work whenever there is a public event being held at the school. He said the classrooms are jam packed with paintings, drawings, sculptures, photographs and more. Why not show off their talents and hard work for the public to enjoy?

Ken Brown, a volunteer monitor for the elections, admired the work from his post. "It's very nice," he said. He particularly liked a metal fishing rod stand for a truck that was made by Gunnar Jacobs. "That's pretty good metal work," Brown said.

This year, the display included some work from science students as a reminder that the high school's science research symposium is scheduled for May 30 at 3:30 p.m.

Art work showcased wasn't just from high school students, but also elementary school students.
