School districts across East Hampton will be closed on Tuesday due to Hurricane Sandy, according to East Hampton School Superintendent Rich Burns.
East Hampton School District and the sending districts, including Springs, Montauk, Amagansett, and Wainscott, have decided to cancel classes for the second day in a row.
"It's going to be too unsafe with, again, the storm surge and the high winds. It's just unsafe for transportation of our students," he said on Monday morning.
East Hampton High School is also being used as a hurricane shelter.
According to Larry Cantwell, East Hampton Village Administrator who is coordinating with the town on the Red Cross shelter, eight people are being sheltered there. "The Red Cross said more have stopped by with plans to take family there," he said.
No pets are allowed, though.
