School Districts Cancel Monday Classes

East Hampton School District and the area sending districts decide to close on Monday amidst Hurricane Sandy.

School across the Town of East Hampton will be closed on Monday due to Hurricane Sandy.

East Hampton School District Superintendent Rich Burns said his school district cancelled classes due to the high winds and storm surge that the storm is expected to bring to town.

East Hampton High School will be used as a Red Cross shelter, and will be open on Monday by 8 a.m.

Feeder districts to East Hampton School District have closed, as well, Burns said, including Springs, Montauk, Amagansett, Wainscott and Sagaponack schools.

A decision about classes on Tuesday will be made when the storm arrives, Burns said.

Sag Harbor School District has also closed.
