School District Will Discuss Designs with Voters for Approved Capital Improvements

Sag Harbor School District set up meetings for Jan. 8.

Next month, Sag Harbor School District residents will get a look at the final design for the the $9 million in capital projects they approved in a November vote.

On Nov. 13, voters approved the renovations and expansion of the auditorium at Pierson Middle-High School, a reconfiguration of the shop and kitchen areas, and the construction of an additional gymnasium storage area in the elementary school. They also approved reconfiguring parking, and the installation of a synthetic turf athletic field and two-lane walking track at Pierson, a new scoreboard and a concrete area outside of the cafeteria. District-wide repairs and improvements will also be made to the heating, ventilation, air conditioning and plumbing and drainage systems.

Group meetings have been scheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 8, with an alternative night meeting the same night for those who cannot attend during the day.

Before the vote, the Board of Education and Superintendent Carl Bonuso promised voters they would have additional opportunities to provide input on the final design plans for each of these projects.

“This is a very important and exciting time for the future of our district,” Bonuso said in a statement this week. “We appreciate the community’s support and it is important that our parents and residents have the opportunity to be involved in the final design plans.”
