PHOTOS: Reading Program in Montauk Off to a Great Start

Parents as Reading Partners challenges students to read 75 minutes per week.

Parents as Reading Partners – a collaborative effort between teachers, parents, students, and others to put reading at the top of kids' priority lists – kicked off on Tuesday at the Montauk School.

Twenty members of the East Hampton community came out to read to students during this semi-annual event.

East Hampton Patch's own Taylor Vecsey spoke Mrs. Nicolleti's fifth grade class, and showed them the East Hampton Patch site. She selected "Three Little Wolves and the Big Bad Boar," thanks to a suggestion from a Patch reader.

PARP is a program that challenges students and parents to read 75 minutes each week, or 15 minutes per day, with each other. Organized by Rachel Kleinberg, Library Media Specialist at the Montauk School, the program is held twice a year.
