Montauk School Extends Candidate Petition Due Date

State law requires the district to open the petition deadline back up after candidate withdrew his name.

If you want to run for school board in the District, there's still time.

District Clerk Grace Lightcap said that the deadline for nominating petitions to be submitted had to be extended after Lee White withdrew his name from the running. State law for schools requires the district to open the petition deadline back up.

All nominating petitions must be submitted to the clerk no later than Wednesday, May 2 at 5 p.m.

Incumbent Kelly White is running unopposed for the single open seat on the board of education. She has been on the board for five years and is also a teacher at the .

Kelly is married to Lee's brother.

  • Voter registration, May 2 from 2 to 6 p.m.
  • Public Hearing on the proposed 2012-13 budget, May 2 at 6 p.m.
  • Budget vote & candidate election, school gym, May 15 from 2 to 8 p.m.
