East Hampton Students Up for Teeny Awards

And the nominees are . . .

Several students from schools in town have been nominated for the .

The East End Arts Council recently announced its nominees for the annual awards. The council volunteer judges review theatrical productions in 15 participating high schools on the East End. They evaluated the students on demonstrated skill in categories such as movement, delivery and stage presence in theatrical productions and in musical productions singing and dancing were also considered.

An awards ceremony will be held at on June 5.

Nominated for Lead Actor in a Drama was Yori Johnson of for I Remember Mama and Charlie Lehner of the for Proof.

Lead Actress in a Drama nominees include Allison Charde, who performed in East Hampton High School's I Remember Mama. had several students nominated for The Effect of Gamma Rays on Man-in-the-Moon Marigolds -- Brianna Kinnier, Sophie Parker and Emily Selyukova.

Max Tabet of Ross School was nominated for Supporting Actor in a Drama.

Brittney Schmitt and Katie Reed were nominated for Supporting Actress in a Drama for I Remember Mama, as was Laura Rinaldi for The Effect of Gamma Rays…

Supporting Actress in a Comedy nominees were Kaylee Denny and Holly Goldstein from Pierson for One-Acts.

Jack Hodgens from East Hampton High School was nominated for his role in Oliver! for Lead Actor in a Musical.

Lead Actress in a Musical nominees include for Oliver!, Emily Hinz and Elizabeth Oldak from Pierson High School for Chicago.

Stage managers were also be recognized at the Teeny Awards. East Hampton High School student Curran Brierley was nominated for his work on I Remember Mama and Oliver! Pierson student Graylyn Serefy was recognized for The Effects of Gamma Rays… and Chicago, along with Xylia Serafly and Emily Verneuille.

Set designers Gabe Burford of Pierson was nominated for Effects of Gamma Rays, while Molly Finnegan from East Hampton was nominated for her work on I Remember Mama.

And, you can't forget the Playbill and Poster Art designers. East Hampton High School student Molly Finnegan was nominated for her work on Oliver! and I Remember Mama.

The Innovations in Theatre Education award will be presented to Ross School and Pierson High School. It recognizes the efforts of a school to support theatre arts by going above and beyond the regular high school play. 

The ceremony is open to the public for $20 and $15 for students.
