East Hampton High School Ranks Nationally

East Hampton was ranked along with other East End Schools

East Hampton High School made the cut — it was recently ranked 799th out of 22,000 high schools nationally in the U.S. News and World Report high school rankings.

East Hampton was ranked along with other East End Schools, including Sag Harbor's Peirson High School, which was nationally ranked 833; and Westhampton Beach High School, which is number 401 on the list.

U.S. News and World Report said its rankings are determined by college readiness, math and English proficiency and student-to-teacher ratio.

New York State Regents test scores determine proficiency in English and math, according to the publication. East Hampton High School is 3.2 percent proficient in Math and 3.4 percent proficient in English, the report states.

A school’s college readiness index is based on AP and IB exam participation rates and percentages of students passing at least one exam. The index also determines which medals will be awarded to the top scoring schools.

This year, East Hampton came in with an index of 36.1 percent . In its student to teacher ratio, East Hampton is recorded as having an average of 11 students to every one full-time teacher.  There are an average of 959 students in the school and 88 teachers.
