Celebrate Bonac Pride Throughout Homecoming

Take in a game, enjoy the bonfire, and salute the Hall of Famers during East Hampton High School's Homecoming celebration.

East Hampton High School is gearing up for a jam-packed Saturday in honor of Homecoming 2013.

Students have been engaged in Spirit Week during the school week, all leading up to the big football game and the second annual Bonac Hall of Fame induction.

Homecoming games are played throughout the week. The boys golf team plays Southampton on Thursday at 3:30 p.m. The girls swim team has a meet on Thursday at 4:30 p.m. Girls volleyball takes on Mt. Sinai on Thursday at 5 p.m. On Friday, the girls tennis team plays Westhampton at home at 4 p.m., the boys volleyball team takes on Sayville at 5 p.m., and the boys soccer team has a match up against Bayport-Blue Point at 6 p.m.

A dance will be held on Friday evening — for East Hampton High School students only — with music provided by DJ K-Alert (aka student Chris Kalbacher).

The Hall of Fame celebration begins with breakfast on Saturday at 9 a.m in the cafeteria. Tickets must be purchased in advance through the Athletic Office for $15. The ceremony will follow in the auditorium.

The inductees are Melanie Anderson, Lara DeSant-Siska, Sandy Fleishman-Richman, Tony Gilliam, John Gilmartin, Kimberly Hren, William Myrick, Mark Ryan Jr., Harry O'Rourke, Mylan Le, Eric Kaufman, Richard Cooney, Mike Burns, the 1965 football team, and the 1976-77 boys basketball team.

The inaugural ceremony drew over 400.

During the day, various games will be happening around campus.

The East Hampton girls soccer team plays Hampton Bays at 11 a.m. At 12:30 p.m., the 2013 Field Hockey Program in hosting the first annual Alumni Game on the turf field. Extra equipment will be available for former Lady Bonackers who want to play. The current field hockey team has a matchup against Miller Place at 4 p.m.

Festivities, including a BBQ and carnival, will be held before the big game from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. A bake sale fundraiser to raise awareness for the new sustainable garden on campus will be held.

The community will gather around the big bon fire at 6:30 p.m., and then the show down begins between the Bonackers and the Mariners under the lights at 7 p.m. East Hampton looks to defend the Hamptons Cup, winning 42-7 in 2012.

Hall of Fame inductees will be announced before the game, and the Homecoming King and Queen will be crowned at half-time of the game.
