The third season came to an end in Springs on Sunday when the 40 participating girls completed the , along with 40 additional children from across Long Island.
Leading the pack was Thomas Brierley, 16, in 35:40. Teague Castello, 15, finished second in 36:38.
The top female participant and third overall was Nora Rosati, 16, in 37:47. Katina Garry, 16, was a close fourth, finishing in 37:54. In fifth place was Paige Duca, 14, in 39:59.

and girls completed the youth triathlon after preparing for the last six months with i-tri, an organization that seeks to empower young girls. They were exposed to self-esteem building, nutrition counseling, and fitness coaching.
All children, 10 to 17, are eligible to take part in the race, sponsored by the East Hampton YMCA RECenter. The total of 80 participants swam 300 yards, biked 7 miles and ran 1.5 miles during the race.
Theresa Roden, founder and executive director said in a statement, “Yesterday the girls crossed a FINISH LINE – but that was not the end –just the beginning they have learned that they have the ability to set a goal and achieve it! The strategies that they used to reach the finish line of the Maidstone Park Youth Triathlon (affirmations, visualization, teamwork, good nutrition, training, etc) can now be applied to ANY goal that they set for themselves.”
This was the largest amount of children participating in the youth triathlon and the program, as this is only i-tri's third season.
