SAVE EAST HAMPTON

We, the citizens of East Hampton Village and East Hampton Town, request the officials of our local government to contact Governor Cuomo to stop PSEG/LIPA from all work on the East Hampton to Amagansett Transmission Line until a proper analysis and review under State and local laws may be had and proper public disclosure and discussion completed in compliance with the law.

Concerns include health and safety risks of running transmission lines through residential neighborhoods, diminished scenic vistas that contradict the approved East Hampton Town Comprehensive Plan and the environmental impact on ground water and soil due to toxic laden utility poles.  

These transmission lines service 8,000 plus residents in East Hampton.  The current project was constructed as a redundant source of power for the East End of Long Island.  The poles range in height from 50 -61 feet tall have transmission lines capable of 33KV of power and have been placed  as close as 20 feet from people's homes. They are a health and safety risk to our residents and a permanent scar running through our beautiful village and  town.

In order to be more storm resilient and truly act a redundant source of power should the primary lines fail, we believe the lines must be buried along a major corridor such as the Long Island Rail Road or Route 27.  This would be the least invasive, most direct, and most beneficial plan  for all East Hampton residents.  We need to stop PSEG/LIPA NOW or who knows what our town will look like in the very near future.

VERY IMPORTANT: This WEDNESDAY, MARCH 5th at 2 PM at TOWN HALL (159 Pantigo Rd, East Hampton) is our group's meeting with PSEG, Supervisor Cantwell,  Mayor Rickenbach, Rep. Thiele, a rep from Sen. LaValle's office and a rep from Governor Cuomo's office. Any & All that can attend and be in the audience as a show of support, PLEASE COME! We need as many people to be there as possible. This is a MAJOR TURNING POINT in our battle to re-route and/or bury the new transmission lines. MARK IT ON YOUR CALENDARS - WEDNESDAY MARCH 5 @ 2 PM AT East Hampton TOWN HALL.
