The transformation of the former Bulova Watchcase Factory in Sag Harbor Village is well underway, with the condo project expected to be completed before the end of the year.

According to the developers' website watchcasefactory.com, "Built and operated for almost 100 years as a watchcase factory, the site is being reinvented as 64 meticulously crafted condominium residences, with its nineteenth century architecture preserved with painstaking detail and repurposed into luxurious residential living spaces following best practices in green building."

The project was planned to include 65 luxury condos, but The Sag Harbor Express reported in May 2012 that, due to the structure of the building and the changing real estate market, it would be dropped to 64.

Cape Advisors got approval in 2008 to turn the factory into condos, but it took years to secure financing, according to The Express. The renovation finally began after the project was bankrolled in fall 2011.

The condos will include lofts, with high ceilings and exposed original beams; townhouses, inspired by 18th and 19th century Sag Harbor Village homes, with patios, terraces and wood-burning fireplaces; and "The Bungalows," one-bedrooms with gardens fronting the central courtyard.

The New York Times reported in February 2012 that a 130-car garage will be sited underground, there will be a fitness center, and a swimming pool with a retractable roof.
