Where Are the Worst Potholes?

Snow often creates nasty craters in the roads.

Big and small, deep and shallow — potholes can still cause some serious damage.

After the heavy snow we've had, there seem to be more on the road.

Where are they? Let's get a list going and we'll pass it along to the appropriate officials. Leave a note in the comments below.

Woods Lane, both sides, NASTY! I also drove over two awful potholes on Dunemere Lane this morning, they are long stretching across both sides of the road and appear to be getting deeper every day! What a disgrace for the Village

Hey Taylor, when you have a bunch of these comments, can you forward to the Highway Supervisors of East Hampton Town & Village, and see if they can have some answers for us about this!

Via East Hampton Patch Facebook's page, Donna Cuomo said, "The one I lost my tire on!!!! Going east on 27 between Georgia rd. and Nichols is really bad ..." Annmarie Travis Field said, "ALL of 27..it's been like this for years now..I keep hearing it's "the State" I also heard auto shops are saying more & more people are coming in w/ tire damage & alignment probs...Gee..Wonder why?...it's like off roading on an obstacle course w/ craters waiting to swallow you up!"

Is it the State that's responsible for 27?I'm sure it's gotta be! Can we find out for sure? I heard They were going to fix it LAST summer? The patch job they did, didn't last long.

Potholes! What about the asphalt curb along Springs Fireplace road south of Harrison, the town,s plows destroyed it while snow plowing. Kudos for Steve and his boy's.

1. I agree with Ann that Wainscott has craters. 2. I wish the East Hampton Star did useful articles like this. The Star is unaware there is a world outside of Town Hall.

There is a huge pothole on accabonac across from the senior housing windmill. It's directly in front of a mailbox. It has gotten much worse this week.

I LOVE this thread, as above the most notable are on 27 in Wainscott, they've damaged my alignment and on a previous vehicle I lost a total of 6 tires one year! Totaling at about $1000 in rims alone! The State of NY does maintain 27 however they claim no responsiblity for damages between Nov 15th and Apr 15th, any other time of year you can apply to be compensated for damage. That being said, Really they should just get out there and repair them.

114 neat Whitmores. Hit it Friday and had a flat tire by the time I was out of the vets office.

My street, 4th Street, off of Gardiner Ave, is virtually impassable. You have to drive on the neighbors' lawns to get down the street!

Hawthorne Street, between Fort Pond and Broadway in Springs, it just keeps expanding and expanding.

Also, the traffic circle on Scuttle Hole Rd. in Bridgehampton has a big chunk taken out of it that's been growing and growing for some time now.

Wainscot is the nursery for all potholes out here...they grow'em there until they reach maturity, harvest and replant them elsewhere.
tom February 24, 2013 at 10:28 PM
Speaking of potholes, anyone else wonder what's going on with the 3 small holes in the westbound lane at the 27 & Butter Lane intersection in Bridgehampton? They're been there for years...don't get any bigger, or smaller.
