Village Trustee Officially Resigns

David H. Brown says it was an honor to serve.

Longtime East Hampton Village trustee David H. Brown has made his leave from the board official.

Village Administrator Larry Cantwell said Brown handed in his letter of resignation on Thursday, two days after .

"It has been an honor to have served with the board and for the residence of the village and to have been part of the team that keeps the village the most beautiful village in America," Brown said in the letter.

Brown has been on the board since the early 1990s.

Having retired last year as the Clerk of the Works for the Town of East Hampton, Brown said he wanted to focus on other things in his life.

The board will have to officially accept his resignation at its next meeting on Sept. 16. Mayor Paul F. Rickenbach Jr. and the board will discuss their options regarding the vacancy on the five-person board then.
