PUBLIC HEARINGS

  1. Introductory #07-2013, a proposed amendment to Ch. 77 (Beaches) with respect to dogs on the beaches – this proposed local law seeks to strike a better balance by allowing dogs the same access to the beach, but by adding a requirement that dogs be leashed within the more populated areas within 500 feet of the road ends so that their owners have better control over their encounters with other beach-goers and more awareness and a better ability to pick up dog waste.
  2. Introductory #06-2013, a proposed amendment to Ch. 278-3 (Zoning) to amend subsection A (8), which sets forth dimensional requirements for residences in split zoning districts or in commercial zoning districts based on the underlying zoning district, as opposed to lot size.

7.    Adopt as LOCAL LAW ELEVEN-2013 Introductory #6-2013, hereby amending Ch. 278 (Zoning) to amend subsection A (8), which sets forth dimensional requirements for residences in split zoning districts or in        commercial zoning districts based on the underlying zoning district, as opposed to lot size. (Suffolk County Planning Dept response rec’d 4/16/13)  

8.    Adopt as LOCAL LAW TWELVE-2013 Introductory #7-2013, hereby amending Ch. 77 (Beaches) with respect to dogs on the beaches -  allowing dogs the same access to the beach, but by adding a requirement that dogs be leashed within the more populated areas within 500 feet of the road ends so that their owners have better control over their encounters with other beach-goers and more awareness and a better ability to pick up dog waste.

9.    Notice for a public hearing to be held on May 17, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at the E.M.S. Building for Introductory #08-2013, a proposed amendment to amend restrictions applicable to the permitted height of garages and the uses which may be conducted inside residential garage buildings.

10.  Notice to bidders for the purchase of Bennett Manufacturing Company Model #148P green trash cans with plastic liners, with the bid opening to be held on Monday, May 6, 2013 at Village Hall at 12:00 pm.  

11.  Notice to bidders for the purchase of various equipment for the Fire Department, with the bid opening to be held Monday, May 13, 2013 at Village Hall at 2:00 pm.  

12.  Adopt Resolution #12-2013 setting the application fee of $100.00 for tent permits, as per Local Law #9-2013 (adopted 3/15/13).  

13.  Approve the sale of 19 (4 village-owned & 15 impounded) vehicles to the highest bidders as listed, as a result of the on-line auction held by Auctions International (total: $18,350.00).  

14.  Accept the bids dated April 1, 2013 of the E.H. Town Highway Dept for purchasing supplies and services on an annual basis (As per Cooperative Purchasing Agreement between Town & Village)  

15.  Approve the purchase of 3 Hewlett computers off NYS Contract #PT65350, at the total cost of $9,096 (please refer to April 9th memo from Chief Larsen).  
16.  Employ Ed McDonald as Seasonal Beach Manager for the 2013 season at the salary of $31,930.   17.  Employ following 2013 seasonal beach employees, effective retroactively to April 15, 2013 (please refer to April 15th memo from E. McDonald):
  • Robert Barber, Asst. Manager $30.00 hourly                                 
  • Chris Cordone, Beach Tractor $26.00 hourly                                     
  • John Geehreng, Pre-Season $21.00 hourly                                     
  • Francis Mott, Beach Cleanup Supervisor $26.00 hourly                                     
  • Jim Nicoletti, Asst. Manager $28.00 hourly    
18. Approve the promotion of Detective Gregory J. Brown to the rank of Sergeant, effective May 1, 2013, at an annual base salary of $130,658.67 (please refer to April 4th memo from Chief Larsen)  

 19.  Approve the transfer of Police Officer Steven B. Sheades to the Detective Division, effective May 1, 2013, at an annual base salary of $ 115,184.17 (please refer to April 4th memo from Chief Larsen)          
20.  Appoint Rebecca Molinaro as Village Clerk Treasurer at an annual salary of $95,000, effective May 1, 2013.  

 21.  Employ Kent Howie as part-time & seasonal Building Inspector at the hourly rate of $41.00, effective April 22, 2013.  

22.  Employ Luke C. McNanara as a Part-Time Police Officer at $22.00 per hour, effective May 1, 2013 (please refer to April 17th memo from Chief Larsen)  

 23.   Employ 2013 Traffic Control Officers & Traffic Control Specialists, effective May 1st for those in training, May 16th for the rest, as per April 17th memo from Chief Larsen)  

24.  Accept 2013-2014 fire department officers as per recent fire department election; Thomas Bono - Chief Engineer, Richard Osterberg - 1st Asst. Engineer,  Christopher Hren -  2nd Asst Engineer,  Dept. Secretary – Joan Jacobs (2yrs) and Dept. Treasurer – Alex Walter (1yr) (please refer to April 8th letter from Chief Bono)  

25.  Approve status change of Fire Dept member Timothy P. Smith from Active to Inactive Exempt (please refer to March 20th memo from Chief Bono)  

26.  Accept the resignation of Michael Reid from the Ambulance Association (please refer to April 15th memo from Chief McGuire)  

27.  Accept Drew Smith (upon meeting requirements – see March 26th memo from Chief McGuire) and Jessie White (please see March 27th memo from Chief McGuire) as probationary members of the Ambulance Association.  

28.  Approve the $5,030.00 purchase of parking tickets for the parking lot machines for the 2013 season (please refer to April 15th memo from F. Verity w/attachments)
