UPDATE: Project on Montauk Highway Rescheduled Until Next Week

Assemblyman Fred W. Thiele, Jr., said repairs are "still good to go."

Repairs on Montauk Highway from Water Mill to East Hampton Village that were scheduled to begin on Wednesday have been rescheduled for next week., according to Eileen Peters, a spokeswoman for the State Department of Transportation.

In an email this afternoon, Peters said that that the D.O.T. doesn't have an exact date that the resurfacing project would be rescheduled for just yet. "We'll know more Friday. It's very weather dependent," she said. "Our weather forecasts call for rain tomorrow night, 80-percent chance on Thursday, and possible showers on Friday, and there were equipment issues."

Assemblyman Fred W. Thiele, Jr., (I-Sag Harbor), who had urged the D.O.T. to repair the highly damaged roads, said he had also been informed of the rescheduling, but had been told the project should begin on Monday. "It's still good to go."

The project being done under an emergency contract will repair parts of the state highway  between Station Road in Water Mill and Accabonac Road in East Hampton. Peters had said on Tuesday that the work to replace the asphalt would cause some traffic delays since one lane would be closed at a time near sections that were being worked on.
