Town Notebook: Wind Power, Playhouse Fundraiser, and More

The town notebook gives you a glimpse into some items that didn't make major headlines this week.

Here's a roundup of small agenda items that were discussed in and around East Hampton this week.

At the work session on Saturday, Supervisor Bill Wilkinson told the board that the wants to hold its annual fundraiser at the playhouse instead of off premises as usual. The Playhouse would need the board's approval. Councilman Pete Hammerle expressed some reservations. "I didn't mind the  idea, but our town regulatory agencies are going to have a problem with having it an area isn't anywhere near having a CO." The supervisor asked that the board be open to discuss it at later date.

A symposium on how municipalities can draft wind power in its codes will be held at East Hampton Town Hall some time soon. Councilman Dominic Stanzione said representatives from all five East End towns were interested in the idea of streamlining its code to address wind turbines and hearing from those who are experts on the subject. The gathering may be held on Feb. 11, though the details are still being worked out.

At the meeting on Tuesday, Lazy Point resident Steve Graboski requested an emergency permit to relocate his septic system from the bay side to the rear of his home, following intense erosion there from the last nor’easter storm. The board granted approval.

The trustees have hired some people for the Winter Flounder Program, including Sarah Broadwell, a marine biologist who will be doing field work.
