The chairwoman of the Sag Harbor Village Zoning Board of Appeals, Gayle Pickering, is giving up her post, citing personal reasons, according to The Sag Harbor Express.

The Express reports that Pickering wrote to Mayor Brian Gilbride on Nov. 20 to inform the village of her intent to resign as of Dec. 31.

Gayle Pickering has been an outstanding public servant. Being a member of the Planning Board and Chair of the Zoning Board in Sag Harbor, she has consistently balanced the goals of the property owner and public in a fair, thoughtful, informed manner. I wish her continued success in her profession. She will be difficult to replace.
