Romney will no longer be able to hide from the truth. When the right wing (home of George Will) Washington Post's editorial board mocks Mitt Romney's tax plan, you know it's worse than anyone imagined. They called his policies "GARBAGE" Allow me to repeat that, "GARBAGE" "Mitt Romney, the presumed Republican nominee for president, promises to lower everyone’s income tax rate without reducing revenue. This sounds terrific. Why didn’t we think of it sooner?" The editorial, titled 'Mitt Romney's garbage', argued that Romney's plan to cut taxes and lower the deficit is unfeasible. "It’s reasonable to assume that his cuts would, as did President Bush’s, worsen the nation’s deficit. Until he’s willing to explain how he would avoid such a result, he has little standing to criticize Mr. Obama’s fiscal shortcomings." The piece also took issue with Romney's claim that his plan to cut taxes by 20% for everyone helps the middle class and not the rich. A recent study found that Romney's plan would mostly benefit the wealthiest Americans. Romney called the findings "garbage." "You can’t simultaneously lower tax rates, take in as much money as before and protect the middle class," the Post editorial board wrote.

Froggy, why can't you happily inform people on what is happening instead of listing unhappy facts. Our country is in BIG financial trouble. If sacrifices must be made (never mind Repubs began 2 unfunded wars AFTER lowering the tax rate of the rich). let middle class programs of Pell Grants, food stamps, Obamacare, Medicare, public education be ended & certainly the taxes of the wealthy or corporations not be raised to pay for the deficit. Horror & unhealthy! Donald Trump, Paris Hilton & their Repub cheerleaders are successful & should not be asked to pay what the rest of us pay in tax. Success should be rewarded, not penalized. You who villianize the successful can scream about fairness all day, but you are only envious & jealous. So why even imagine that corporations & the wealthy should be treated like any middle class person? It doesn't matter that if monies of the successful (corporations & people) now in overseas tax havens were taxed at 15%, unlike the middle class, it would completely end the deficit. Why shouldn't the middle class, who are not Paris Hilton or any other heir to fortune, pretend they are successful? No, let the rich get richer & the whining middle class work a little bit harder to become hiers. Kaprielian is right, let's not burden the children & the grandchildren of the rich with onerous sacrifice that could come out of their inheritances.

Oh god, there is non-gendered "Christie Nicolle" again spilling out right wing political porn. "Darling, wonderful Mitt..." This is what passes for political comment: salivating, self-lubricating public onanism? Better watch out or hatchet-faced, "no more tax returns" Ann Romney will have her horse dressage over your sorry...self.
People Person August 19, 2012 at 08:17 PM
Imagine you are at the Romney-Ryan family picnic eating caviar, pheasant, quail (or is it Quayle), duck, oysters placed before you in a palace setting with servants for everyone to call upon. Now, snap out of it. Think about your family's picnic. Could you see Romney or Ryan sitting with your family? if not, you're likely not to be dancing with their wives at their social clubs either, right? Or hob-knobbing at their yacht club, right or the place in the Cayman Islands they stay at when they drop off that big piece of cash they want to keep out of sight from the IRS. You know them, they're the ones you send 30-40% of your income to each year...not 13% like Romney or 14% like Ryan. Still think they represent YOU? Take a closer look...this time with your EYES OPEN.
christie nicolle August 19, 2012 at 10:15 PM
Anyone who insults the beautiful Ann Romney -- our future First Lady is one jealous closet homo...GO MITT!!
Lady L August 19, 2012 at 10:46 PM
PP: are you talking about Michelle "let them eat cake" Obama? Surely you've seen her vacationing menus. All: what have you against people donating to the candidate of their choice? I don't hear protests from you when Biden or Obama or Clinton are in town. On top of that, when talking about tax rates, everyone tries to keep their taxes as low as possible via legal tax codes; remember Romney pays 2 types of taxes, personal and corporate. What we really need is a flat tax, very limited deductions (maybe mortgages and donations), then enforcement of the dozens of Obama administration officials who have not paid their own taxes, ie Timothy Geithner et al.

You know I read some of the ramblings of the lunatic left and I have to wonder what has to be transpiring between the ears, the mindless, reckless hate that is vomited forth gives you clear indication exactly how dangerous these people can be if they don't get their way. When mitt Romney is elected President I truly worry how much violence these mislead children will visit upon those who don't share their thoughts; we already see the violence of the Occupy movement, add to that the unhinged Obama voters who knows how many people will get hurt.
Mo Neill August 20, 2012 at 08:48 AM
Flat tax is a most unfair tax. To quote Diderot, I believe, or Rousseau: "The law in all its majesty treats the rich man who steals a loaf of bread just the same as a poor man." Lady L are you in lala land?
Mo Neill August 20, 2012 at 09:00 AM
Reckless hate vomited forth indeed! You're a hot one Preliar. Yeah, if Romney wins, we can go out & start a war to celebrate! We all quake at what violence could be started by the Democratic leftties. It's just another good reason to permit any & all to take out guns to rampage through the NRA HQs. If Williard wins he will kick out all the commies in the State Dept. & won't that be fine? What hatred indeed to demand Mitt to show us his taxes like he demanded from all his potential running mates to submit 10 yrs of returns. What hatred to ask a Romney supporter to even think about fairness or equity or equality.

Exhibit A: The post above, an incoherent soup of rambling nonsense devoid of thought or reason.
Jaguar-Guy August 20, 2012 at 11:24 AM
FYI Mo Neill - Mitt Romney did not inherit ANY MONEY from his father. He declined it. You HATE so much, and are so full of HATE. It is abundently apparent in every single post. Damn the facts, right? As for "let's talk issues" - I agree. Unemployment hit record highs in 44 US States on Friday. When is the President going to talk about that, or meet with the White House Press next (7 months and counting) ?? PLEASE - let's talk issues !!!
Jaguar-Guy August 20, 2012 at 11:29 AM
Mo - 50% of citizens do not pay any tax at all. The top 1% pay 50% of all taxes. The top 2% pay 70% of all taxes, and the top 10% pay 90% of all taxes. There should be a "Flat Tax Rate" so that EVERYONE has some skin in the game. Womanizing Herman Cain was really on to something with the 9-9-9 Plan of his (which he lifted). Come on Mo, you've written better.

"The law, in its majestic equality, forbids the rich as well as the poor to sleep under bridges, to beg in the streets, and to steal bread." - Anatole France, The Red Lily, 1894, chapter 7
Jaguar-Guy August 20, 2012 at 11:52 AM
Mo - Ryan is NOT rich. As for Mitt/Willard - yeah, the guy is super rich. He did not inherit one penny from his father's estate, he declined his bequeath. He did not accept any payment for over 28 years of Public Service, and will not take money as President. When President Obama is no longer President in 2016 or 2012, he will make over $1,000,000.00 per appearance and speech. He will make Hundreds of Millions because he will be in demand and there is no denying that - as a person, he is very likable. He will pay lower and lower taxes, because once his income is taxed the amount will accumulate and will earn interest on the corpus and keep compounding into billions. President Obama will pay a low, low tax rate on that money in the form of Capital Gains Tax. I am fine with that, and that is how the tax system works now. And, this is how Mitt made his money and now pays a lower interest rate. He makes ZERO income now and only pays taxes on the interest his money continues to earn just sitting (yes, $200 Million earns a lot of interest). You can rail on all you want about it, but this is how it works. Just ask Obama's right hand man, Warren Buffett. He's paid ZERO taxes since 2001. How do you feel about Warren B ??
Lady L August 20, 2012 at 03:35 PM
Add to that the media lies he's putting out!
Lady L August 20, 2012 at 03:39 PM
If everyone pays (say10%) of their income, don't you think they'd be more interested, nay: invested, in knowing who and what they're voting about? These people who don't investigate thoroughly a candidate, who don't even know who the VP is, let alone the Secretary of Defense, yet vote according to the mandates of the media and unions, would be well served to get some "skin in the game" as our president suggested on another matter.
Drtee-Dancer August 20, 2012 at 03:44 PM
@ Mo - Please understand that Mitt did not inherit 1$ from his family - please get your facts correct. Thank you.
Jaguar-Guy August 20, 2012 at 03:53 PM
Lady L - Informed voters that have "skin in the game" ?? Outrageous !!
Jaguar-Guy August 20, 2012 at 03:59 PM
Drtee - Facts are wholly unimportant to Mo - as is abundently obvious from her angry posts. She is the typical fanatic - who hears something and simply regurgitates it back up . . yuck.
Mo Neill August 20, 2012 at 09:42 PM
Are you really that dense Jag, Warren B is not running for Prez. His views are as compelling as yours. Sorry to break the news, neither of you will set fiscal policy or chart a course for the nation, as will the next president. As for "that's how the tax system works" that you're fine with, well, bully. You're right, that's how it works now. Unlike Romney & Ryan, the poor, the near poor & the middle class are groaning under the weight of greed, selfishness, privilege & tax havens for the wealthy to not pay the same % on earned revenue the rest of us pay. It's how it worked during our Independence too, with only white male property owners having the vote. Progressive forces ended that unfairness. It's how the system worked for slave owners too, until a progressive Repub put an end to it, saying that unfairness stinks to high heaven. Overnight the Repubs could seek higher revenues from the wealthy, who have been spared paying what everybody else must, doing very well for themselves during the last 2 decades & now claim they want to balance the budget by not spending money on parasites, Because the wealthy has purchased the Repub Party office holders, even you might cede they have groveled for. Repubs have been servile toadies for corporations & their masters, the 1%. You seem to agree with Mitt's calling Obama hateful for calling on Romney to come clean with the nation & show us what he has claimed is true. Why hide it? And what exactly do Repubs, like yrself find so hateful?
Jaguar-Guy August 20, 2012 at 10:06 PM
Obama was untruthful today when he said McCain gave 10 years of returns. McCain actually provided 2 years - period. Why didn't Obama complain about McCain only releasing 2 years then Mo - you seem to have answers (try as you may) to everything Obama ?? Why - because it is a "red herring". Again, you state below that you want to talk "issues" - fine. Great - let's talk about the economy, jobs, gov't spending, rising fuel costs, and how about unemployment hitting record highs in 44 States on Friday too ?? Those are OUR issues - now how can WE resolve them amicably without the rhetoric and juvenile name calling - seriously ??
Jaguar-Guy August 20, 2012 at 10:10 PM
p.s. Why does the fantastic Warren B get a pass anyway ?? Shouldn't he pay his taxes too?
PHD_IN_ECONOMICS August 21, 2012 at 01:46 AM
You people are a disgrace to the USA, ignorant fools! Ever heard of CAPITAL GAINS TAX?????? Investments over 1 year are taxed at 15% and short term investments are taxed at 20%. THIS IS UNIVERSAL, MEANING EVERYONE PAYS THIS.......YOU PEOPLE ARE SO BLIND AND IGNORANT ITS PATHETIC. YOU SHOULD BE COMMITTED FOR BEING SO DUMB!

After reading the replies to my comment above I decided to leave you this story for you to apply it however you see fit. While a poor woman stood in the marketplace selling cheese, a cat came along and carried off a cheese. A dog saw the pilferer and tried to take the cheese away. The cat stood up to the dog so they pitched each into each other. The dog barked and snapped; the cat spat and scratched, but they could bring the battle to a decision. "lets go to the fox and have him referee the matter" the cat finally suggested. Agreed said the dog and off they went to the fox. The fox listened to their to their arguments with a judicious air. Foolish animals he chided them. Why carry on like that? If both you're willing to divide the cheese, you'll both be satisfied. Agreed said the cat and the dog so the fox took out his knife and cut the cheese in two. But instead of cutting it lengthwise he cut it in the width. "my half is smaller!" Protested the dog the fox looked through his spectacles at the dog share. 'you're right quite right!' The fox decided so he went and bit off a piece of the cats share. 'that will make it even!' The fox said. When the cat saw what the fox did she began to yell 'Just look my part is smaller now!
ViralGrain August 22, 2012 at 01:59 AM
The fox again put on his spectacles and looked judiciously at the cat's share. "Right you are! said the fox. 'Just a moment and I'll make it right.' And he went and bit off a piece from the dog's cheese. This went on for so long that the fox finally ate up the whole cheese before their eyes.

I THINK that I get it. Was the fox named Lloyd Blankfein?

Funny; I thought all this time it was President Obama who had a latch on all the fundraising and influence from Hollywood. BTW: Since when have you found the traffic in East Hampton terrific in the middle of the summer, with or without the presence of a presidential candidate or incumbent?? Not a very classy commment!
