Republicans' Scallop Dinner Still on Wednesday Night

Fundraiser set for 6 p.m., despite snow storm.

The winter storm isn't deterring East Hampton Republicans — the scallop dinner fundraiser for the trustees is still taking place tonight.

Kurt Kappel, the committee chairman, said of the weather may not be ideal, but they are hopeful Republicans will still come out to support the trustees. The dinner starts at 6 p.m. and is being held at the Highway Diner & Bar in Wainscott.

Joseph Bloecker, a current trustee who is running on the Republican ticket for assessor, just added shrimp and oysters to the clam bar, which is included in the $50 ticket price.

The Republicans will celebrate their candidates, which include Carl Irace for town justice and Dominick Stanzione and Fred Overton for town board.

The full slate will be announced at the end of next week, Kappel said. The committee is waiting to pick four more trustees — and word from Jay Schneiderman on whether he will accept the committee's nomination for supervisor.
