New East Hampton Airport Sign Installed

Sign has a new design.

Seven months after Superstorm Sandy blew the East Hampton Airport sign on Montauk Highway in Wainscott away, the replacement is finally up.

Jim Brundige, the airport manager, said the the newly designed sign was installed on Wednesday.

"It looks pretty nice. I'm kind of proud of it -- I designed it myself," Brundige said.

He had some help from Ocean Graphics, an East Hampton company, but he selected the graphics and font, after the Village of East Hampton requested a different design that the colorful one that was damaged in the storm.

The property the sign sits on belongs to the Village of East Hampton.

One thing that has to be fixed on the sign, Brundige said, is that that the town supervisor's name appears on the sign with no explanation as to who William Wilkinson is.

"I'll take care of that," Brundige said. A plaque that says "supervisor" will be placed underneath.
